Guest lineup for the September 26th
edition of "A Story to Tell"
First, we speak with
British-born author Richard Graham-Yooll, author of the suspense novel "A
Foreign Policy." The story is set in Boston, London and the Middle East, and the
time is the near future. Saudi Arabia is undergoing tremors of unrest, but a US
administration, comfortable with the status quo, wants no change. About the
author: Mr. Graham-Yooll studied at Balliol College, Oxford University,
graduating with an MA in English. Before moving to the USA, he worked for Lloyds
of London and made several visits to Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, to advise local
investors how to form an insurance company. The experience taught him valuable
lessons in mutual incomprehension and misunderstanding, and provided useful
background for "A Foreign Policy."
Next up was Kim Wallace, whose cutting-edge book series about gay and lesbian
teens highlights the lives of two best friends who navigate the waters of high
school together. The first two releases, "Erik & Isabelle Freshman Year at
Foresthill High" and "Erik & Isabelle Sophomore Year at Foresthill High",
revolve around lifelong best friends who share the joy and agony of adolescence.
Conquering such issues as love relationships, personal trials, and the desire to
make their world a better place, the protagonists sweep the reader up in their
whirlwind journeys from their freshman to senior year.
Candace Salima tells us about the 1984 college football champion BYU Cougars in
her new book, "13 and 0: Reflections of Champions". A college football team from
the Rocky Mountains crowned the best in the land? The idea was unthinkable --
until BYU's 1984 team took the national championship. The Cougar's perfect
season left traditional national college football powerhouses by the wayside,
mesmerizing national media and energizing fans. That year has been the stuff of
legends ever since. So what made that year unique -- and where are the players
now? Find out that and more inside, with compelling synopses of each game ∙
Biographies of players and coaches, totaling thirty in number ∙ Dozens of
photos, including current ones of players' families ∙ Player's thoughts on how
the season changed their lives ∙ The positive ripples still seen as a result of
that unforgettable experience
Melinda Robertson tackles the issue of teenage pregnancy in her new book,
"Motherhood, What You Don't Know!" which is a story about a 15-year-old girl
from a middle/upper class family that loser her virginity, gets pregnant (her
first time having sex) and hides her pregnancy. The story highlights the trials
and tribulations of Nicole's pregnancy and the impact it has on her family.
Trying to juggle "motherhood" and the demands of high school classes is more
than Nicole ever imagined. Her determination to have the baby she's carrying
changes her life forever.
Finally, Dan Peterson introduces his new children's book, "Fergus, The Soccer
Playing Colt." For over 30 years Dan A. Peterson has brought people and books
together. Dan is a children’s book author, representative for various
educational publishers and co-owner of the Alphabet Station, a parent-teacher
center. Holding degrees in both Journalism and English from Brigham Young
University, he has served as curricula evaluator for Behavioral Research
Laboratories and the Dallas Independent School District, curricula developer for
Thiokol Chemical Corporation, and editor for Harbrace Publications. Dan is the
author of various freelance articles, with names such as “Reflections of a
Suburban Cowboy”, and he also dabbles in writing narrative poetry.
Guest lineup for the September 19th
edition of "A Story to Tell"
Is it possible that America could divide into
four separate, autonomous countries? Listen to Global Talk Radio's September
19th edition of "A Story to Tell" to hear author Bruce Alan Humphrey discuss
just such a futuristic scenario in his new fiction thriller, "Winds of Time."
It's about a nation gone wild, and covert operative Tarl Cray has been told to
contact the leaders of the other three breakaway territories. His orders are to
convince them that their one-time great nation must reunite in a combined
defense against invaders. The four splinters are: The Southeast (which has built
itself on scientific and medical disciplines), the Northeast (agricultural), the
Mid-West (also highly agricultural and peaceful), and the West (a feudalistic,
power driven territory, much like "The Old West".)
Next up, we visit with Michael Kenworthy, author of "Close Calls with the Cops
Volume 1" - a hilarious but true take on some of the most amazing things people
have said to law enforcement officials to avoid getting a ticket. If you're like
most people, you've probably had an encounter or two with the police. But you'll
be shocked at what some people are willing to do to avoid a ticket. Some of
their tactics are so brilliant that they'll make you slap your forehead and say,
"Man, I wish that I'd thought of that." Others are so wacky and off the wall
that you'll find yourself saying, "I could never do that." And some, well, some
are just downright bizarre. For the first time ever, Mike has gathered the best
of these stories in one amazing collection.
Then, we heard from Alina Oswald, author of "Poetry of the Soul", who is a
well-published freelance writer and author interested in health/medicine,
HIV/AIDS, alternative treatments, spirituality/healthy living, travel, education
and also fiction/poetry.
Next up, Dr. John Mentink joined us to discuss his book, "Dance of the Poets",
about two very different individuals who meet over the internet and decide to
take a chance on trust, friendship and love. "Dance of the Poets" takes the
reader on a unique journey through a second and imaginery novel, The Man From
McKee, which the author has developed as an unusual literary tool, thereby
creating a plot within a plot. It is through the revelations embedded in this
second story that the relationship of the scientist and the caretaker grows and
changes, leading them into observations about social change and the value of
life.
Finally, meet Sue Dent. Her book, "Never Ceese", is about a skeptical vampire
forced to team up with a determined werewolf whose long-held wish is to have her
curse removed. Will they be able to free themselves of their curses at last...
or will they suffer at the hands of a power-hungry stem cell researcher who
seeks the immortality and fame their unique blood might give him? Tune in and
see if Sue clues us in on the ending.

Guest lineup for the September 12th
edition of "A Story to Tell"
Wild Heart Ranch is a publishing and toy

The Company’s focus is in producing high quality innovative products. The

animated CD-Rom and web site, www.WildHeartRanch.com. The original products

developed the Armadillo Cowboy Club story and product line through the online

gamers and is building brand awareness for the line. The Company recently
launched a new updated website, reflecting a new corporate identity and a

Next, we heard from children's book author William L. Sawyers, about his most
recent titles "What Am I?" and "What Am I? Bugs", written primarily for children
from 5 to 8 years old. Riddles are on the front of each page with the answer on
the back in color. On the next page, children can color the bug on top of the
page and also fill in the missing bug parts on the bottom. It's ideal to be read
to them by parents, siblings, grand parents or baby sitters. In return the child
should try to guess the riddle.
A new book offering more than 90 amazing but true paranormal tales from around
the world has just been released by Canadian author Martha Jette, who phoned
into our program. Glimpses 2" It Could Happen To You is perhaps the first such
comprehensive book covering every topic from ghosts and hauntings, to angels,
visions, dreams, near death experiences, premonitions, reincarnation, ghost
hunters, haunted homes and sites, dangers of Ouija boards and much more. Written
by Hamilton, Ontario, Canada author, Martha Jette, "Glimpses 2" is the
culmination of nine months of research and writing. Ms. Jette is a journalism
graduate with many years of magazine and newspaper editing experience. Since
retiring due to health problems in 1996, this Canadian grandmother has written
three books and is currently working on a fourth.
Finally, Debbie Alferio (author of "A Forever Kind of Love") is a lifelong
resident of Northern Ohio. Her interest in writing this novel came after a dream
she had one night involving the character of Mitch. Feeling inspired by this
dream, she began to write and now views it as her passion. Feeling it important
to write in a way that readers could easily relate to, she made each character
very realistic and down-to-earth, instilling her own importance of high moral
and family values into each one. The relationships between characters, the
surprises revealed throughout the story, and the humorous and heartwarming
approach to each situation they face makes Debbie’s writing both interesting and
entertaining. This is her first novel in the series. She feels that long stories
are the best stories. “When you are absorbed in a good book, you don’t want it
to end. I like to give that satisfaction to my readers by keeping the excitement
going just a little longer.” Also, having lost several relatives to cancer as
well as personally knowing many others touched by the disease, Debbie chose to
donate a portion of her profits from the sale of each book to the American
Cancer Society. In doing so, she hopes that her novel will not only bring
enjoyment to those who read it, but will aid in finding a cure for this deadly
disease.
Guest lineup for the September 5th edition
of "A Story to Tell"
(Los Angeles, CA) September 5, 2005
-- In just a few days, America will pause to remember the horrific events
of September 11, 2001. Paul Landis, author of "A Real 9/11 Commission" joins us
to discuss some still unanswered questions about the attack on the Pentagon. In
his book, he shows the reader evidence that a Boeing 757 did not and could not
have hit the Pentagon. He asks why were reports, which were shown live on TV the
morning of the attack, ignored? (These reports included "a plane with no
windows" hitting the North Tower, statements by TV newspeople of bombs going off
after the planes had struck, and statements by NYC firefighters of "demolition"
charges causing the collapse of the towers. "A Real 9/11 Commission" gives the
reader the opportunity to review the charges and evidence, and to participate in
rendering their own decision.
Sherry Ellis introduced us to her wonderful new children's book, entitled "That
Baby Woke Me Up, AGAIN", which is written for all those bleary-eyed families who
sincerely believe that they will never again enjoy a full nighty of sleep. Seen
through the eyes of an exhausted sibling, this book is guaranteed to bring a
smile to even the most fatigued members of a sleep-deprived household. Can you
count the number of nights you slept after your baby was born? Do you remember -
or are you now suffering through - the cries that can mean anything from "change
me" to "I'm hungry" to "time to come and play with me"? Sherry understands the
world of the sleep-deprived and felt compelled to write a book that might make
every family's sleepless nights bearable.
From Syndey, Australia, we spoke with 20-year-old author Sarah Champion about
her first published book, "Untouchable". Sarah has always been a fan of science
fiction, but she always felt that something was missing: female lead characters.
"Untouchable" is her answer to this problem, introducing two female lead
characters.
Stella Nnanabu joined us to discuss her miraculous recovery from near-death and
her new book, "A Walk Through The Valley of Death". When she was in a hospital,
recovering from a serious illness and emergency surgery, she thought a great
deal about her life and per profound relationship with God. As her health
improved, so did her desire to share that faith with others.
Finally, S.J. Reisner visited with us to discuss her new book, "Left Horse
Black", the first in a series of fantasy novels about the survival of four
warring sorcerer factions. She also has one non-fiction book, numerous articles,
and several published short stories to her credit. She started her writing
career producing clips for newspapers and over the years has been the editor for
various newsletters, two small press magazines, and an independent publisher.
